SPAN 313: Introduction to Spanish Linguistic
Course Description: Introduction to Spanish Linguistic, presents the principal branches of linguistic study, as it pertains to Spanish. One of the main focuses of this course is the study of the structure of words (morphology) and the formation of sentences (syntax). These linguistic aspects fulfill the requirements of the ML2, which is related to speaking ability, listening ability, reading ability, and writing ability. During this course, we were required to write several small essays, which helped me improve my writing skills. In addition to writing essays, poems and narratives, we also had to read these works in class, which helped me in my reading skills. Among other activities, we held discussions and group analysis about our writings, which helped me improve my ability to speak in public. In general, Dr. Oliva included many linguistic techniques in his classes that will be very useful in my professional career. SPAN 313, is a course that perfectly complements and reinforces LINGUISTIC 392,a course that I took previously and helped me improve my linguistic skills acquired in the previous courses. All together, they completely satisfy the ML2, required for my Spanish major.
