This course introduces various aspects of Japanese culture, including history, geography, religion, government, politics, customs and traditions. After a broad historical overview beginning in prehistory, this course focuses on the Tokugawa period as the bedrock for understanding modern Japanese society as a mass society. Taught in English. JAPN 305: Introduction to Japanese Culture & Civilization This course helped me to understand various aspects of Japanese culture, including history, geography, religion, government, politics, customs and traditions. I also learned the different periods of development of ancient Japan, for example, the Jomon, Yayoi and the Niara period and how it was developing Japanese culture 'After a broad historical panorama that began in prehistory, this course focuses on the Tokugawa period as the basis for understanding modern Japanese society as a society with a unique religion the Buddhism and influence they received from Other cultures like the Chinese and Koreans to form modern Japan these days.
